 Crude Oil Transportation

NSCSA decision to expand their shipping in to crude oil transportation in the year 1992 was a part of its strategy to diversify its business activities. The company placed an order with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries "MHI" Japan for five double hull VLCCs which were delivered into service in 1996-1997. In 2001, four VLCCs resale contract were purchased at Samsung Heavy Industries "SHI", delivered during 2001-2002 followed by an order in 2004 and 2006, for eight VLCCs with Hyundai Heavy Industries "HHI" to be delivered in 2007, 2008 and 2009. All the vessels are of built to high standards with a capacity of 2.2 Million barrels and 300,000 DWT or more.
Presently, the VLCC fleet of the company have reached to 17 ships and this rank NSCSA among the top-10 largest VLCC owners.
The company follows consistent commercial and operational policies in order to achieve good returns and reduce market risks.
Oil & Gas transport sector contributes significantly to the company profits.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas Transportation
|
NSCSA entered into LPG business on 21 February 2005 through an agreement with Petredec Limited, a Bermuda registered company by acquiring 30.3% percent share.
Petredec is a leading Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) trader and ship-owner headquartered in Singapore and Monaco. It controls a fleet of over 77 vessels under operations aggregating approximately 250,000 cbm.
This deal represents number of firsts for NSCSA, first venture into the gas trade, first investment outside GCC region and also first share acquisition of any existing shipping company. This investment fulfills and fits perfectly with NSCSA's long term strategy of strengthening international alliances and diversifying the company's portfolio.
